God's Country

My sister and her husband enjoy both hiking and traveling, so hiking in Derbyshire, England was very special. Using the timer on their camera, Liz and Jim took this beautiful photo as they savored the view over Edale, Hope Valley. They just squeezed this hike in before torrential rains chased them inside later that day. (June 2009)

“Tendresse” (papers, bridge), happy-scrap; cloud by Gwenn from “Un Peu de Verdure”; Programs: GIMP, PSE 6; Font: Scriptina, Sans

I submitted this layout to the May DSO Altered Photo Challenge. I wanted to adjust this gorgeous but slightly hazy photo so the viewer would feel they could step into the picture and join Liz and Jim. Using “Levels”, I increased the contrast and made the colors richer.

You, too, can take a walk in "God's Country". It's all around us, no matter where you are.
