Gone Fishing

In our family, fishing is a sport passed down from generation to generation. Grandma would walk down to the beach with a cane pole and a bucket to catch fish for dinner. As they were growing up, Mom and Dad fished in lakes near their hometowns in west central Minnesota.

We three girls started fishing when we could barely walk, as did our kids. My three boys caught inch-long sunfish, about one a minute, at a culvert for a run-off pond near our home. Last year, John even traveled to Canada to catch some of the big game fish that are plentiful there.
