The Road Less Traveled

When we were on vacation this month, we left the main highway to see a public boat landing just north of Duluth. If we had not taken that "road less traveled", we would have missed this gorgeous view.

I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

Easter Elegance

Easter bonnets, curled hair, hand-made coats, best dresses, little purses, white anklets, Sunday shoes --- Mom worked hard to make us look special for Easter Sunday.

Garden of Art

We had a great vacation! One of the things we did was visit a fun place right in our back yard. The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden provides a fantastic outdoor art experience! Harry and I really enjoyed taking silly pictures around the sculptures. Here are a few of them.

Journaling: Harry and I had lots of fun taking silly pictures at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. What a fantastic outdoor art experience!

1: Spoonbridge and Cherry - best known sculpture in the Garden; often used in photo layouts of Minneapolis and Minnesota; 2: Standing Glass Fish - reeling in a big one; an unbelievable fish story; 3: Walking Man - “May I help you?”; 4: Dawn Tree - Locked in the stocks; 5: Nautilus - riding a deep-sea crustacean; 6: Two-way Mirror Punched Steel Hedge Labyrinth - Which is the real Harry?; 7: Molecule - overwhelmed by chemistry

It's All Relative

Here are some special photos of my relatives. The first is a picture of my great great aunts. When my Great Grandfather Julius emigrated from Germany, two of his sisters remained behind. This 1928 photo of those two sisters captures their love for each other and the twinkles in their eyes. They look so full of life; I would like to have met them.

The next photo is much more recent. On Easter, 2009, all the young people at my sister Nancy’s house decided to make a human pyramid. It made a fun photo, but I would not have wanted to be on the bottom!

For both of these layouts, I used "Escape to Paradise", the latest kit from Di @ Legacy4Life. As you can see from the preview below, this kit is very versatile with lots of fun papers and unique elements. Click here to visit Di's store and here to visit her blog.

We're going on vacation today (YAY!!), so I had to post this early. If you cannot find "Escape to Paradise" in Di's store today, check again in a day or two.

See you when we get back!

Big Deal

For Dad’s 80th birthday, everyone in our family wrote down special memories they had of him. Most of the grandkids mentioned playing cards. My niece, Mary, wrote about Dad playing with BIG cards, so I included her memory along with this fun photo. It makes me smile! :D

I have many fond memories of Grandpa that deal with card playing! I have always loved playing cards with Grandpa, but one memorable time we gave him huge cards to play with, and it was very funny to watch Grandpa shuffling the huge cards.

In November of 2009, David decided to see what he looked with a beard. Jessica thought he looked like Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof". David just thought the beard was scratchy, so he shaved it off. Both Mom and Jessica were happy!
