Love is Patient, Love is Kind.

Love is patient, love is kind
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

Treasured Moments on the North Shore

Nancy, Liz and I had a delightful time relaxing on the North Shore in July 2013, after Becca and Sam’s wedding. Naturally, we had to see the important icons of the area: Pierre the Voyageur, the rosemaled pony, Split Rock Lighthouse, and the giant rooster. Such moments are meant to be shared, either soaking in the beauty or reveling in the ridiculous.

Mess or Masterpiece?

One of my favorite challenges at Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking is the Mess or Masterpiece Challenge. Following the directions given, participants pick out papers, elements, an alphabet, a brush set, a style and a photo not by selecting pleasing color schemes and similar themes, but by counting folders and elements. Using this odd set of materials, you either create a mess or a masterpiece! See the directions here if you want to learn more.

This time, some of the items I ended up with were my sister Liz's 5th birthday photo, a Christmas paper, a St. Patrick's day mat (plain gold, fortunately), a bright orange Easter egg, a fancy swirl, and a dry wall screw. What a strange combination! It was fun to see what I could do with this crazy mix of materials. Here is the layout I submitted.

3 Papers:
Angie Briggs: Count The Ways - Paper-Deco 2 (background)
Brandy Murry: Cottage Christmas - Paper-Pattern 2 (number 5)

I Need to Read

I love this photo of two-year-old Steven "reading". When our boys were preschoolers, if they weren't tired enough for a nap, we would have them lay down with a book and rest. Steven’s choice of quiet time reading this time was Curious George.

"If kids are entertained by two letters, TV, imagine the fun they’ll have with twenty-six. Open your child’s imagination. Open a book." (Author Unknown)

Jump for Joy

After Becca and Sam opened their wedding presents, the cousins who were still at the gathering did the ever-popular jump in the air. Wheeeeee!! Rory and Calvin jumped especially high, with a little help from their parents, of course.

I submitted this page to the Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking Monday 10/7 Challenge to use white space on a page, but the idea for the series of photos came from the Thursday 10/3 Challenge to show motion or change through two or more of photos.

Male Bonding

When my sons saw a big heavy chain on top of a cliff overlooking Lake Superior, they decided to do some male bonding. Steven and John chained their necks together. Naturally! What else would one do?
