Little Sailor Boy

John and Kristine's engagement photos were on the last post, so naturally I am doing a layout of John as a toddler.  He was a pretty cute little boy, if I do say so myself!

Reflection

Syndee Nuckles: Picturesque Collection Biggie; Stock photos

The Monday 11/25 Challenge at Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking was to scrap the first thing you thought of when you read the challenge directions.  I thought about thinking and reflection and came up with this page. I think this turned out pretty cool! What are your reflections on the subject?

All I Want For Christmas Sure Isn't This!

At Christmastime, our family plays a game with “white elephant” gifts. No one knows what will be inside their packages. Some combinations are very funny! My favorite photo from 2010 is my brother-in-law Bill with a teeny tiny pink jeweled tiara. Other gifts included huge sunglasses for Dad, a cute little purse for my son David, and a stuffed caterpillar Mom.

Ginny Whitcomb: North Pole Friends Collection; Fonts: Gabriola, Mistral.

I created this layout for Ginny Whitcomb to advertise her new kit, North Pole Friends Collection at Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking. I used photos I scrapped with before because they seemed to fit her whimsical kit. You can find the previous layouts here and here and here. I guess I really like these photos!

Happy 80th Birthday, Mom!

We recently celebrated my mom's 80th birthday by giving her a memory book. Each of the kids and grandkids wrote about Mom, and then those memories were assembled together, along with accompanying photos, and printed. At the party, we read the memories to my mom, and I could tell she was touched. This was the front page of the book.

Fall On the North Shore

Last year Harry and I visited the North Short of Lake Superior in September, when the leaves were just starting to turn.  Here is the lovely view we saw of Ellingson Island.  This island is a part of Split Rock Lighthouse State Park, and is easy seen as you look south from the lighthouse.

Befuddled Baby

Six-month-old Calvin looked adorably befuddled when I took his picture.  This photo was too cute not to scrap!  Calvin's mom asked for a copy of the photo, so I think it's okay with her that I posted this.  Fortunately for me, Calvin is too little to ask!

The Serenity Prayer

God, grant me
the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.

Blending Textures and Photos

I submitted this page to the Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking Blending Tips Challenge for National Scrapbooking Day.  I must have known this blending challenge was coming! I already had photos I’d taken especially to use as textures, so I used them for some of my blending layers on top of the main barn photo. Here are the layers I used, listed from top to bottom:

1. Barn photo: Overlay, 10%
2. Photo of silt in parking lot, changed to B&W: Overlay, 30%
3. Photo of mesh netting, changed to B&W: Multiply, 27%
4. Photo of foam insulation, changed to B&W: Soft Light, 24%
5. Photo of foam insulation, changed to B&W: Multiply, 14%
6. Photo of wispy clouds, changed to B&W: Soft Light, 31%
7. Barn with embossed style filter: Overlay, 91% (gives a more 3D look)
8. Barn photo: Normal, 100%

Journaling: As I strolled down a path near our home one crisp November day in 2009, this scene captured my eye.

Amanda Fraijo-Tobin: Fall Foliage Collection Mini; Brandy Murray: Autumn Jewel Collection Biggie

It's such fun to play around with a photo by adding texture layers like this!  If you do scrapbooking, give this method a try!

1. Take photos with general overall textures: a leaf pile, a brick wall, pebbles, sand, a grassy lawn, floor tiles, waves, clouds,...  The possibilities are endless!
2. Change your texture photo to black and white, and set this texture photo on a layer above a copy of your main photo.
3. Add a blending mode on your texture photo (I use multiply, soft light, and overlay the most), adjust the opacity, and you have your very own artsy photo with lots of depth and texture!

Before the Ceremony: Bridal Prep

Christine was a beautiful bride from the top of her head piece to the “I DO” painted on the soles of her shoes. Her heart for God showed, too, when she prayed with the gals in the wedding party before the ceremony.
