SuperMom

When we were growing up, Mom was always busy doing something for our family. This layout honors my "SuperMom" and highlights a few of the many roles she filled.  Thank you, Mom!

Ginny Whitcomb's Mom's Day Collection Biggie

Ginny Whitcomb's Mom's Day Collection Biggie contains so many different embellishments and word arts that it was a snap to create this layout about my wonderful mom.

A Wonderful Day With You

These are some fun photos of my son Steven with his lovely fiancée. Sara is a treasure and I am blessed that she will become part of our family. I especially like their happy smiles in these photos. Believe it or not, Sara (5' 8") is carrying Steven (6' 4") on her back in the bottom photo!

This page was posted here on the Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking blog, and submitted here for the Scrap Girls Thurday Blog Inspired Challenge for May 15.

O Come, Let Us Adore Him

Last year we attended an amazing progressive Christmas play put on by my son's church. Each group of thirty people walked through various vignettes in sequence where actors portrayed the Christmas story.  This is a photo from the stable scene. Everyone's eyes were focused on the newborn baby boy.

Jesus birth, the Son of God coming to earth as a baby to show His love for us, is the reason we celebrate Christmas.  It is good to remember all year round.  O come, let us adore Him!

I submitted this page to the 5/9 Friday Freebie Challenge at Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking. Of the three different items in this Friday's Freebie Special (available here for a few days), I chose to use the striped lighting overlay freebie because it reminded me of the lighting that would show through the slats of the stable in Bethlehem.

Below the Lighthouse

Below Split Rock Lighthouse and across the bay sits little picturesque Ellingson Island. During the fall and winter you are allowed to explore this protected wildlife sanctuary by walking across a narrow isthmus of sand and rock. I love the view of the lighthouse with the island in the foreground.

I submitted this page to the Thursday 5/8 Challenge at Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking to use the gradient tool to blend a photo into the background. Check out a tutorial by Jody West here that shows exactly how to do it. I blended the top photo over the large lighthouse photo using a linear gradient, then used a small radial gradient to selectively blend the top of the lighthouse over the picture of the island. After blending a couple of different papers and a paper edger on top of the photos, I think this qualifies for a blending challenge!

My Special Mom

No one picture could capture all the different facets of my mom, so for this Mothers’ Day layout I used seven photos spanning six decades. This layout is very dear to me because my mom is so special. She has advanced Alzheimer's, and now cannot say my name, and occasionally doesn't recognize me as a family member. However, her kind, cheerful personality still shines through, and she is still Mom.

Journaling:
- A wife, mother of three, grandmother of ten, great grandmother of four
 - A woman of faith, love and wisdom
- A blessing to me and all who know her

This layout was one of the Inspired Scraps featured in a Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking newsletter.  Part of the accompanying write-up included more details on how I created this page.  You can read the newsletter here.

Toddler Easter Egg Hunt

Who had more fun at the Easter egg hunt, the toddlers or the adults?  I think they all had a good time, although I don't think baby Joseph found many eggs on his own.
