A "Flat" Thank You Card

Flat design is one of the latest trends in digital design.  These are designs without shadows that are intended to look flat. Here is a good summary for this new trend: "Flat design is a minimalistic design approach that features clean, open space, crisp edges, bright colours and two-dimensional/flat illustrations." (Creativ Bloq) This is my attempt at a "flat design" card. It doesn't have bright colors, but there are no shadows.

I submitted this page to the Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking 9/29 Tuesday Newsletter Challenge to create a card with a flat look, in other words, with no shadows.

The Measure of a Man

Whenever Dad sees this picture of his eighth grade class, he points out that the girls were taller than him. He’s on the left in the back row. The kids used to call him “Tenner Tiny”, but Dad had the last laugh. He grew over the following summer and became the starting center of the varsity basketball team for all four years in high school.

A Match Made in Heaven

Look at the joy on their faces!  I'm sure this was a match made in heaven, and the Lord was very pleased to see these two become one.

This layout was published in the Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking newsletter as an example for the Newsletter Challenge to create an ethereal layout.

For this page, I conveyed the ethereal beauty of a “match made in heaven” using a few photos and some special digital scrapbooking effects. The clouds opening up, the journaling scrolling into the distance and the heart-shaped bokeh give a feeling of lightness, space and depth. I added lighting overlays to reinforce the impression of light streaming from a break in dark clouds. Cast shadows underneath the happy couple and the Bible enhance the illusion of the pair standing firmly on a book floating in mid-air. Doesn’t this make your heart smile?

Autumn Favorite

This is my favorite fall shot of these three nieces when they were little. They look so cute playing in the leaves with their dad! It always makes me smile.

Music Is What Feelings Sound Like

In this photo of David playing the guitar, you can see the blur of his fingers strumming and fingering the chords as well as his smile as he sings along with his playing. I love the feeling this photo gives me!
