Hike to Shovel Point

The hike to Shovel Point in Tettegouche State Park was the highlight of our vacation in September 2012. I loved the different views we could see as we climbed along the shore of Lake Superior. In some spots we could see water splashing into shallow sea caves.

We were especially amazed at the way pine trees clung tenaciously to seemingly bare rocks. Harry spotted a group of trees whose roots curled around a huge boulder. There was even a small cluster of pines atop a picturesque rock “island” close to shore.

Harry enjoyed skipping rocks at the mouth of the Baptism River. I was charmed by the little red squirrel that didn’t move a muscle as we strolled by. Since he posed so nicely I had to take his picture! We both enjoyed seeing the marvels of nature on this glorious fall day.
